My ministry in my Home Church: La Esperanza Baptist Church.
Dear Friends and Brothers in Jesus Christ,
I hope that God keep and bless you in all your endeavors. God is always faithful and I am sure you are experiencing His grace and kindness every day.
In my last report I informed you that my Home Church I am actually member it had no pastor and they want me to help for a temporary time. My help to them started on March. Experience with them so far is optimal.
My ministry in my Home Church: La Esperanza Baptist Church.
I have the responsibility to preach and teach in every church service. Our church has four meetings a week. On Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays I must preach and teach 4 times a week. Beside of it, I also preached to teenagers and young people in their meetings. The way I am fulfilling my ministry during this time is:
Sunday AM – Worship Service: The emphasis is worship. The preaching is based on the prophet Haggai. Seeking the church renew their spiritual life and loves the work that God has given us.
Sunday AM - Sunday school: The emphasis is on the edification of the church. My classes are a discipleship group. There is an average of 70 member in the class. My lessons are based on the phrase "... one to another", which appears in several New Testament passages. I'm looking for each brother meets the specific instructions that these passages have.
Sunday PM - Evangelistic Service: The focus is the preaching the gospel and testify of Jesus Christ. Biblical texts that I choose are those that explain the gospel with simplicity. This helps me to affirm the faith of the brothers in the gospel and encourages all of us to bring guests to the services.
Wednesday PM - Service Bible Study: The focus is on studying the Bible. Seeking on the brothers to remember the basic spiritual truths. I chose the Gospel according to Luke and Acts for this purpose. Basically, I am teaching both books as a historical foundation of the gospel of Jesus and his church. I am glad that the brothers are learning. The proof is that many children participate enthusiastically in this service.
Friday PM - Prayer Service: The emphasis is prayer. The service is one hour and we pray for different requests. We are interested in the service of prayer as a service prayer. Thank God, attendance at this service has grown considerably.
Apart from the work of preaching and teaching, I do visit, disciple, manage and chair. The church has an average attendance of 155 people in Sunday School, which is our more attended service. The work is hard; I had "left it" the local ministry at a church for over 6 years. I have to learn again how “to do" pastoral work. This is not easy and I ask your help by your prayers. Time is short and it is necessary to find a way the church works and fulfills its mission with the leadership they have. This is vital because it will take at least one year until they can get a pastor.
The church had its pastor for 24 years. They were used to his leadership and administration. It turns according to him. Now that he is not there, they must also have to learn and get used to the fact that they will have new leadership. Please also pray for the church.
Thanksgiving.
Most of the Church members are growing and responding positively to this new reality. Leaders and teachers of the church are working and supporting the changes that are happening. Children, youth and ladies ministries remain strong from the church remain strong and eager to improve and grow. The attendance is growing in the meetings.
These facts are encouraging and I thank God that keeps us united and firm in His work. Last weekend was very good for the church. For Easter, we preach the gospel from Wednesday to Sunday. We had several visitors who heard the Word of God.
On Sunday 24 we had a resurrection service at 5.30 a.m. attended by 80 people. This was very exciting. We sang hymns with joy and celebrate with joy the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then we had a time for food and fellowship. Thank God, the enthusiasm of the church is coming back. May God continue to encourage His church with His word!
Prayer requests.
1. To lead with love and wisdom to the church at this time of transition.
2. May God comfort and guide the formed the pastor and his family in this new moment they are living.
3. That each member of La Esperanza Baptist Church keeps firm and grow in love and service to God during this time of transition.
4. To provide a servant or servants to pastor and lead our church.
5. That this period of transition and change that God is doing in our Church redound to the glory of God, church growth and salvation of others people.
Thank you very much for your prayers, for your gifts and words of encouragement. Thank you for cooperating and working with me in the work of God that is doing in this world.
Sincerely,
Segundo Rodríguez
